About the Leanchoil Trust
The Leanchoil Trust is a community-led charity working to bring the former Leanchoil Hospital back into community ownership and secure its future as a health and wellbeing centre for local people.
Our role is to protect this important local asset and lead its redevelopment so it can deliver long-term social, health, and economic benefits. This includes acquiring and safeguarding the building, overseeing restoration, conservation and refurbishment plans, developing partnerships, and ensuring the centre is financially sustainable and responsive to community needs.
This is an exciting stage in the Trust’s development, and we are now seeking new Trustees to help guide the next phase.
The Role of a Trustee
Trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity. Working collectively, the Board ensures that the Trust operates legally, effectively, and in line with its charitable purposes.
What We Ask of All Trustees
All Trustees are expected to:
- Share a commitment to the aims and values of the Leanchoil Trust
- Act with integrity, good judgement, and collective responsibility
- Understand and fulfil the legal duties of a charity trustee
- Prepare for and attend board meetings regularly
- Contribute constructively to discussions and decision-making
No previous trustee experience is required – induction, training, and support will be provided.
Skills and Experience We’re Looking For
We are keen to recruit Trustees with a range of skills and lived experience. Depending on current needs, we are particularly interested in people with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Finance – budgeting, financial controls, audit, funding or grants
- Property / Capital Projects – building refurbishment, estates, project management
- Health, Wellbeing or Social Care – NHS, community health, mental health, third sector
- Community Development – engagement, consultation, volunteering, EDI
- Legal / Governance / Risk – charity law, compliance, HR
- Marketing, Communications or Fundraising – digital, PR, income generation
We welcome applications from people who may be new to trusteeship and are particularly keen to hear from under-represented groups.
What You’ll Gain
- A chance to make a meaningful difference to your community
- Experience of charity governance and strategic leadership
- The opportunity to help shape a community health and wellbeing hub
