Name/TitleNorth Road west end 1938
About this objectNorth Road west end 1938. This quaint semi-circular building was known as the Keith bread shop and came into being in the 1950's when large numbers of navvies were employed as railway workers. The local bakers being unable to cope with the demand, bread was sent overnight from Keith by horse and cart and sold from this shop. The upper storey of the building was reached by a narrow winding stone stair not easily negotiated by large people. Despite its unusual architecture, the building was demolished in 1952. The large new building on the right is the sheltered housing for the elderly built in 1975
