About this objectThe Big House, 100 North Road or North Back Road was demolished in 1950. It is said that there was an inn where stage coaches stopped on their way to cross the river Findhorn at Waterford. From about 1860 until a few years before ist demolition it was a hand laundrt, wehere, when business was heavy, employees would work until 10.30pm and then start again at 2.30am the next morning. Throughout the years the walls were tapped by numerous fortune hunters but demolition scotched the legend that a fortune was built into the masonry
